- Contributing to reforming university entrance examination procedures through the use of generative AI and other technologies -

Prometric Japan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: James Hagenbuscher) will participate as an advisory body in the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Commissioned Project to Promote University Admissions Reform (Utilization of Generative AI, etc.)" for fiscal year 2025.

This project, led by the Saga University Admissions Center in collaboration with the Tohoku University Admissions System and the Kansai University Admissions Center, aims to improve the quality and efficiency of entrance examination procedures while reducing the workload of faculty and staff and ensuring fairness, impartiality, and transparency. The project has the following four goals:

1. Clarifying the feasibility and scope of application of generative AI in student selection processes

2. Simulation of the effects of using generative AI in the admissions process at each university

3. Creation of guidelines outlining the appropriate division of roles between generative AI and faculty and staff, the usage environment for protecting highly confidential information, and security measures.

4. Disseminating project results to universities nationwide

Prometric will provide specialized knowledge on test development and operation using generative AI, identify technical and operational issues and propose improvements for the use of generative AI in university admissions selection, and provide advice on fairness, reliability, security, and other aspects.

In addition, the know-how cultivated through our AI-based test question creation solution (Finetune Generate®) will contribute to the promotion of more sophisticated and efficient selection procedures in the field of university entrance examinations in Japan.
