Regarding the introduction of automatic reception authentication system (automatic check-in) at directly managed Test Center

June 7, 2023 Exam/ Test Center related

We have introduced and begun operation of an automatic Candidate authentication system (automatic check-in) at the reception Test Center sites (Tokyo, Kawasaki, Nagoya, and Osaka) of Prometric Japan Co., Ltd..

This system uses an AI engine to match the face photo of four typical Identification Document (*1: driver's license, My Number Card, passport, and foreign residence card) with the face of Candidate who brought the document. The test taker will verify your identity and verify that you are a legitimate Candidate by comparing it with your reservation information. Previously, at test center reception desks, staff had to visually check the information, which took about two minutes for each Candidate, creating a significant burden and increasing waiting time during peak testing seasons. By introducing this system, Approximate Exam Length about 10 seconds and the probability of detecting spoofing was 99.99%. The introduction of this system will reduce the burden on both Candidate and Test Center staff, and will also bring many benefits, such as eliminating fraud through technology, improving test fairness, and further increasing social confidence.

Prometric Japan Co., Ltd. plans to gradually roll out this system to partner Test Center across the country. In addition, we aim to significantly automate and digitize not only the reception process but also the entire operation at Test Center. If you are planning to take the test, please be sure to bring the designated Identification Document with you when taking the test at a Prometric Test Center and experience the new technology.
