Prometric starts trial distribution of “TOPSS” conducted by Japan Personal Styling Promotion Association from September
Prometric Japan Co., Ltd. In September 2019, we began distributing the TOPSS (Test of personal styling skills (hereinafter referred to as TOPSS)) exam using CBT（Computer Based Testing）.
While the need for personal styling, which proposes optimal fashion for the general public, has been increasing, this knowledge has not been systematized and there have been no objective evaluation standards. Therefore, JaPPA, which was established for the purpose of promoting personal styling, created the ``TOPSS'' Test for salespeople, stylists, students, and other test Candidate who are interested in personal styling. TOPSS aims to revitalize the personal styling market by measuring basic knowledge as a common yardstick for measuring personal styling knowledge.
We provided total support through Prometric 's test development support service to address the various issues involved in launching a test system. When designing the exam specifications, Prometric 's test developers facilitated Job Analysis and defined the knowledge to be measured, the number of questions required, and the can-do statements for grading. In addition, we shared the correct question writing process and rules through exam question writing seminars and supported the creation of high-quality exam questions. Exam questions were created through appropriate processes, reviewed by test developer facilitation, and then presented in the beta exam. A beta exam is an exam to check the quality and difficulty of exam questions. Based on the results of the beta test, we used psychometric analysis to confirm the validity and reliability of the test, set the questions and scoring standards for the main test, and adjusted the difficulty level of each version.
TOPSS, which was designed through a test development cycle based on scientific knowledge, can be taken at CBT at Prometric Test Center set up in all prefectures from September 2019. (The first test date is Monday, September 2, 2019)
